Join Patagonia Toronto and End Line 5 Canada as we embark to collectively set a world record of origami fish! This is a cross Turtle Island campaign to raise awareness about Great Lakes water protection.
Did you know that Enbridge’s expired Line 5 pipeline runs under the heart of the Great Lakes? Line 5 threatens clean drinking water for over 40 million people, including national treasures like Manitoulin Island and the Saugeen (Bruce) Peninsula. Stand with Anishinabek First Nations, representing 39 First Nations, and join the movement to end line 5.
Enjoy some refreshments, popcorn and enter for a chance to win some great Patagonia products.Â
Mui-Ling Teh is an artist, photographer, and poet of Japanese and Chinese descent. She creates both traditional and digital art, but is currently best known for her miniature origami.
Â
Her origami journey began with creating small pieces as photography props, often paired with her poetry. In 2014, she began publicly exhibiting and selling her original creations, and in 2019, had the privilege of showcasing her work in the United Kingdom. After a hiatus during the global pandemic, Mui-Ling held her largest exhibition in 2022 at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, where she performed her first miniature folding demonstration in a large setting. That same year, she joined the JCCC Arts Committee and was invited to perform at Japan Festival Canada, which sparked a renewed passion for her artistic pursuits. In early 2023, she returned to the JCCC for another performance and was invited back to Japan Festival Canada in both 2023 and 2024. Her next aspiration is to expand her miniature folding performances beyond demonstrations into fully realized artistic expressions.
Â
The sentiment behind Mui-Ling’s origami is often inspired by the paper crane, a symbol of peace and good luck. With themes of joy and hope woven into her work, Mui-Ling donates a portion of her art sales profits to charities such as Campfire Circle (formerly Camp Oochigeas), which shares similar values.
